The Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has
predicted the total shrimp export value for this whole year will to
US$2.9 billion due to various difficulties.
Since May, the United Kingdom (UK) has become the leading market for
Vietnamese shrimp exports in the European Union with impressive growth,
although exports to other markets have slumped.
Vietnamese shrimp exports to the United
Kingdom have registered a strong growth even as shrimp exports to the
European Union have been registering a declining trend since early this
year.
Export of agro-forestry-fisheries products in the first month of this
year reached a modest US$2.32 billion, 9.7 per cent lower than one year
ago, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Australian customers are buying more seafood from Viet Nam, especially shrimp and molluscs. Viet Nam is the third-largest seafood exporter to the Australian market, following New Zealand and China.
